The Finnish mezzo soprano,
Katherine Haataja started her musical studies at the Sibelius Lyceum in
Helsinki followed by the Conservatoire National Superieure in Paris.
Her operatic roles have included: Charlotte in Werther, Dorabella in Cosě fan tutte, Wellgunde in Götterdammerung and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. For Garsington Opera she sang the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Garsington Opera for which she was acclaimed by the critics for being the discovery of the evening: "a star was born" and more recently the role of Carlotta in Die Schweigsame Frau.
Future engagements include an invitation to sing the role of Cherubino in Marriage of Figaro for Opera 2005 in Cork, Ireland.
