Fiona MacDonald studied singing at the Royal Academy of
Music, where she won many singing prizes including the Wagner Society Bayreuth Bursary, the Dame Eva Turner
Scholarship and the John Cameron Lieder Prize. She later studied singing with Robert Alderson at the
Royal Northern College of Music.
Her operatic roles have included: Witch and Mother in Hansel and Gretel for Opera North, Marcellina in Marriage of Figaro and Witch and Mother in Hansel and Gretel for Clonter Opera, Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana for the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Witch in Rusalka for Stowe Opera.
Her recent experience have included the mezzo role in the newly commissioned opera by John Browne, Babette's Feast for the Royal Opera House Education Programme at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House and the role of Suzuki in London City Opera's production of Madame Butterfly which was touring America earlier in 2003 and produced by Columbia Artists.
