Jakob Cristian Zethner
The bass Jakob Cristian
singing and piano at the Ferenc Liszt Academy and the Kodaly Institute in
Hungary and at the Royal Academy of both Norway and Denmark.
He also studied at the National Opera Studio in London.
His operatic roles include Collatinus in the Rape of Lucretia at the Aldeburgh Festival and Fasolt in Das Rheingold and Der Ring des Nibelungen for Longborough Festival Opera. For the Danish National Opera he has sung the roles of Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Sarastro and Speaker in Magic Flute, Soldier in Salome, Commendatore and Masetto in Don Giovanni, Vanuzzi in Die Schweigsame Frau and Jeronimus in Carl Nielsen's Maskerade. He has also sung the role of Vanuzzi for Bühnen der Landeshauptstadt Kiel in Germany.
Jakob's most recent engagements were the role of Dean in John Browne's Babette's Feast for the Royal Opera House Education Programme and the roles of Bürger/Man in Das Spielwerk und die Prinzessin in Kiel/Germany. He also sang the role of Leporello in Don Giovanni for the New Opera in Denmark.
He is currently singing Geronio in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia for the New Opera in Denmark and Fasolt in Das Rheingold at Longborough Festival Opera in their 2004 revival of Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Future engagements include singing Pistol in Falstaff for the Danish National Opera (Autumn 2004), Swallow in Edward Rushton's Philoctetes for the Opera Group (Summer 2004) and Bartolo in Marriage of Figaro for New Opera in Denmark.
